Production Flow Analysis

Example of Grouping for Electronics Manufacturing

Before Analysis

Production Flow Analysis groups products and processes. It defines families of products having similar processes that may be candidates for workcells. The matrix shows processes and products for an electronics fabrication and assembly operation. It has 291 products and subassemblies and about 35 separate processes.

After Analysis

Below is the same matrix after analysis. Each color represents a family of products and a group of processes necessary to manufacture that family. The processes in dark blue on the right of the matrix are minor processes that require no special skill or equipment. Such processes can be included in any or all cells.
